Our Work
Who I Am
My name is Jeffry Haas, and I am the owner/operator of Wake Up Your Art. I am committed to honesty, clear communication, prompt response time, and being present even when a project is fully staffed. Quality is an absolute must, and overseeing the details is the only way to ensure this. I sign my name to every job that I am involved in, and this resonates within every business relationship from the past, present, and future. Whether it’s a high-end modern renovation or a smaller, more conservative project, my dedication to quality and client satisfaction remains equal.
My career path began alongside my dad in the charming town of Hays, Kansas. It was a place defined by vast stretches of wheat fields, bustling farms, and the ever-present rush of 30 mph winds. Growing up in this environment instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work, resilience, and the value of community.
Picture this: It’s 1976, and my dad makes a decision that would shape my work ethic for years to come. Instead of dropping me off at a friend’s house or with a babysitter, he brings me along to one of his job sites. With his characteristic efficiency, he wastes no time in putting me to work. At just 7 years old, I found myself pulling nails, holding up the other end of a floor joist, or whatever else a young helper could assist with. Little did I know, these early experiences would lay the foundation for my lifelong dedication to hard work and hands-on learning.
The lessons of general construction came swiftly and without pause, taught by a seasoned generation of diligent, hardworking contractors. With their no-nonsense approach, I quickly realized that I had no choice but to embrace the work. So, with determination and a bit of youthful reluctance, I dove headfirst into the world of construction, soaking up every lesson and honing my skills along the way.
So onward it was, spending every day with my dad, yearning for his approval and attention. This would become my lifelong pursuit—to earn that elusive gold trophy of his praise, to hear those cherished words, “Good job, son. I’m proud of you!” This never-ending force has driven my quest for excellence in every design and every project that I’ve encountered, from that day forward.
When it comes to the more artistic and creative side of myself, I owe much of it to my grandmother. She had a remarkable ability to captivate me with what I could only describe as a magic wand — her pencil. With a wave here and a flourish there, she would hover over a pristine sheet of white paper, eventually bringing the sharpened point to its surface. With a swift, scribbling motion, she would work her magic, and before my eyes, a completed image would emerge as if from thin air. It was as if Grandma possessed some mystical power to breathe life into the blank canvas before her, igniting my own passion for creativity. This, I believe, is creative ingredient #1b.
Another key ingredient that fueled my creative problem-solving capabilities was the experience of financial limitations. Growing up, let’s just say we were financially challenged. I didn’t have access to the fancy toys, video games, or bicycles that many other kids did. Instead, I learned to constantly improvise. Whether it was crafting things from scratch using leftover wood scraps from my dad’s shop or salvaging random discarded items from the refuse, I developed a knack for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Countless hours were spent repurposing and modifying these forgotten relics.
We met Jeffry Haas in 2010 when he was recommended by a mutual friend to remodel our home office. Since then, he has completed a backyard deck redesign and rebuild, a garden room remodel, an upstairs bath remodel, and a whole home prep for sale for our 1901 historic home that we sold in 2018. He most recently completed a whole home interior design and implementation in 2022-23 for our downtown Denver loft. Each project was meticulously designed and executed on schedule and with absolutely fantastic results. Jeffry’s attention to detail and thoughtful consideration of our needs are why we continue to engage with him and will do so in the future.

If you are looking for precision, skills, talent, reliability, trustworthiness, knowledge and someone with whom it is easy to work, we cannot recommend highly enough Jeff Haas, who transformed a broken-down, double walkout deck into a piece of art. Additionally, he communicates his progress on the project with wonderful photographs which supplement his work ethic. Working with Jeff has been a very positive experience. We highly recommend him to anyone who consults his services.
Fred and Carole
Jeff is great. He is very responsive, and works with you when it comes to what you want, and if that is feasible within your budget, and getting the final product done in a timely manner. Jeff had good recommendations on design and functionality for many things you may not be thinking about up front. We enjoy using our finished basement, theater room, and full bathroom he built for us.
Jason & Bev Hill
Recently we hired Jeff to replace an exterior door with a sliding glass door at our property in Brookside. He provided us with a bid for a total turnkey project that included all the materials and labor. He completed the job on time and on budget. He cleaned up each day and communicated his progress and expectations for completion. We heartily recommend Jeff for any carpentry project you might have.
