Mountain Bird Ranch

Mountain Bird Ranch Remodel – 2017. Nestled in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, Mountain Bird Ranch was originally the home of popular singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg in the 1970s and 1980s. The ranch has since changed ownership and undergone significant renovations, particularly in the kitchen. The kitchen remodel, which began as a modest 12’x12′ room within the 7,500-square-foot house, was dramatically expanded by removing a wall shared with an adjacent room. This enlargement allowed for the installation of 101 cabinet drawers and door fronts, transforming the space into a massive kitchen over the course of a 7-month remodel.

The kitchen showcases an abundance of wood, featuring hickory floors, oak cabinetry, and solid oak posts and beams. Leathered Bordeaux granite countertops with a stacked chiseled edge cover five different locations throughout the kitchen, complemented by a full countertop-to-cabinet backsplash. An authentic vintage fireback is mounted above a 48-inch Wolf range, paired with a hand-hammered steel and oak hood vent. The cabinets, posts, and beams underwent a five-stage finishing process, including three different stains and multiple coats of waterborne lacquer, achieving an aged yet new appearance.
