Shoshone Kitchen

The original kitchen design was ridiculously cramped, with less than two and a half feet between the island and refrigerator, making it next to impossible to have more than one person in the area at a time. With inadequate cabinet, drawer, and countertop space, this kitchen was long overdue for a serious upgrade.

We started with cabinets from Nobilia, a very modern, sleek, and intelligently German-designed product that is incredibly durable and will never need painting or refinishing. The countertops are from Dekton, a solid surface made from a combination of quartz, porcelain, and glass, also known as “sintered stone.” The two ovens are Miele, one of which has a steam function that produces the best reheating method for leftovers, hands down. The induction cooktop, dishwasher, and refrigerator are also Miele.

The backsplash is custom-made out of 1/8 inch or 11 guage hot-rolled steel that has been rusted and sealed to protect from grease and steam. The ceiling piece was designed to give the space definition in light of the open floor plan and also to break up the exposed HVAC and fire sprinkler systems. It was custom- fabricated out of reclaimed pine wood and high-density foam that has been faux-painted to resemble steel beams. Due to the weight limitations of the concrete ceiling, we could not use real metal. Incorporating the dimmable flat LED panels into the structure gave it that much more character and provides more than enough light to every location in this beautiful kitchen design. The bar light was also custom-designed out of 1-inch aluminum channel with COB dimmable LED that gives an ambient glow to the serving area when it is isolated and dimmed.
